Description

Allow us to introduce Roots of Change, affectionately known as ROC, our organization committed to laying a solid groundwork for our community. ROC, a registered non-profit entity in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is dedicated to establishing secure environments that empower women, children, and youth. Through self-help seminars, social initiatives, advocacy in criminal justice and judiciary realms, and various endeavors aimed at fostering the safety and welfare of those affected by domestic violence across The Bahamas, ROC strives to make a positive impact

ROC is dedicated to implementing sustainable programming surrounding Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion. One of our initial programs is the Mirror Mirror program.

Mirror Mirror is a sustainable social justice mentorship program uniquely positioned to address globally adverse statistics impacting boys and men. The goal is to address the state of boys and young men in our region. The program is designed to provide robust mentorship over a three-year period.

During this time, boys will follow a curated curriculum incorporating sports and arts training. By engaging in group activities, they will gain motivation and inspiration as they socialize within a supportive network of men. Furthermore, all participants will be monitored throughout the program, with the expectation that our network will continue to empower these future leaders beyond the initial three-year period.

Structured as a three-year program for boys aged 12–16 years old currently exposed to at-risk environments and orphanages, Mirror Mirror commences this summer from July 29th to August 2nd, 2024, from 9 am to 3 pm at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs Gymnasium in Nassau, Bahamas. Our theme for this year is “Innovate, Ignite, Unleash, through the Power of Technology”.

Confirmed mentors participating in the program include Bahamian International guest speaker and mentor Quinton Mackey. Quinton Mackey serves as the Principal Group Product Manager (GPM) for Viva Glint at Microsoft, where he leads a team of Product Managers and cross-functional teams focused on bringing new innovations and capabilities to enhance the overall employee experience and increase organizational productivity.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Quentin led a team in KPMG’s Human Capital Advisory practice, working with customers undergoing Employee Experience and HR Transformations, where he worked with a wide range of HR and Employee Experience solutions.

Before joining KPMG, he was a Director on the founding product team at Service Now, which developed the Employee Workflows solutions (HR Case Management, Onboarding and Transitions, Employee Service Center, and Document Management).
